Beautifully located in the Bavarian region in the south of Germany, close to the village Starnberg, we drive into the premises of Max Kühner Sportshorses early in the morning. The home of Max, Liv, Jolie and Grace, dogs, grand prix  horses, young horses and ponies. Liv Kühner welcomes us with open arms. Max is already on the back of the second horse of today, and the stable is buzzing with activities.

The stable and housing are located in the same building. From walking down the stable aisle, surrounded by horses, we are led up three steps and suddenly find ourselves in the grand hall. “Very practical and easy”, says Liv with a smile. Liv, a Danish dressage rider, and Max met through the sport. Now they have two gorgeous young girls, Jolie and Grace and run the business together. “It is vital for me to have the everyday business covered by Liv, as I am travelling almost every weekend all year”, tells Max when he joins us in the living room. We have been granted a day with the family to shoot pictures for this summer catalogue. Max and Kingsland teamed up early 2019 and he is therefore one of the newest additions to our string of sponsor riders.
Max Kühner is originally German, born in Munich, not far away from where he lives today. He was a successful part of the German national team for years before he in 2015 decided to turn in his citizenship for an Austrian passport. “I’ve spent a lot of time in Austria throughout my childhood and this stable is closer to Austria than northern Germany, so it felt natural” Max tells us. He is the highest ranked Austrian rider, and you can see him at major shows like Global Champions Tour, World Cup qualification legs, Nation Cup, championships and more. A busy man with high goals, you might think. But strangely enough, he once told equnews.com that his sporting philosophy is not about climbing the ranking  list. He will focus on doing a good job, on making his horses grow and having fun with them.

Back in the stable we get to meet Chardonnay, a 14-year-old grey Holsteiner stallion after Clarimo/ Corrado I. This horse has travelled the world with Max, giving him some of his greatest achievements of his career. The big goal in 2020 is the Olympics in Tokyo. “The Olympic will be a new experience for me. I cross fingers and hope that the lead up towards the games will go according to plan”, says the Austrian show jumper. Del Piero is Jolie’s little stallion pony to ride. “He looks like Chardonnay just a lot cuter” Jolie smiles. Del Piero likes a good groom and is calm and attentive when the girls brush him before taking him for a hack.

The whole family gets excited when we show them the summer 2020 collection. “This is a smart product”, says Liv as she takes a closer look at the cooling bag. “This we can use for cooling wraps during shows but also for having cold drinks at the beach”. “Wow, there are so many nice junior styles”, erupts Jolie and Grace enthusiastically.
The products and the colours are fresh, light and at the same time functional for any active young rider. High quality fabrics and great craftmanship allows the styles to be worn, used, played in and washed repeatedly. “Can we have it all, mum?” smiles Grace as she puts on a pair of riding tights and gets ready to show us how to jump the mini fences.

After a busy and playful day with the Kühner family, the Kingsland team pack down and get ready to return to Norway.
“I’m looking forward to use all these nice styles as soon as they arrive in the spring. The collection is super for my lifestyle and I never have to worry about what to wear when I wake up every morning” Max and Liv wave us off, before he once again is off to another show with a string of well dressed horses.
